Bar Harbor had a white Christnas followed by a Nor'easter
dumping 18 inches of heavy snow. A "January thaw" followed,
melting most, but not all the snow. Several snowfalls have
blanketed our island this month, creating a beautiful winter
wonderland that glistens in sunshine with a background of light
blue sky and deep blue water. Sunrises are spectacular, and
every crisp winter day gets a little bit longer.
After each snow storm the town does a great job of
plowing the streets. In the downtown area, the sidewalks too
are plowed, and all the snow is hauled away, making room for
local businesses and their customers. Just enough shops,
restaurants, and hotels are open for our winter tourists. Check
